Dr. Ballesteros joined O.C. Medical Aesthetics Inc, DBA South Coast MedSpa as a regional medical director in 2012. Dr. Ballesteros took over as the Chief Medical Director in 2015, and continues to serve in that capacity.

Dr. Ballesteros is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician and has been practising medicine since 1999. His interest in aesthetics has lead him to pursue the role with South Coast MedSpa. His continued education includes manufacture trainings, CME as well as keeping up on medical journals and papers in the area of cosmetic laser medicine.

Dr. Ballesteros supervises the medical treatments of laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing treatments, laser tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation treatments.

Dr. Ballesteros was born in Riverside, California and been a permanent resident of Southern California. Medicine has forever been a career choice of his and the sciences have intrigued him from a young age.

For his undergraduate studies, he attended the University of California San Diego, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. He was then accepted into the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Dr. Ballesteros completed Medical School in 4 years, and earned his Medical Degree from USC in 1999.

He was then accepted into the elite Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center. Here he trained under the country’s leading ER Physicians, and was exposed to a multitude of cultures and pathology. Dr. Ballesteros completed his USC Emergency Medicine Residency in 2003, and immediately joined an ER Physician Group in San Diego. He has been working at local underserved community hospital emergency departments for the past 9 year before joining the South Coast Med Spa team in 2012.

Courtney Toogood PA-C is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant’s (NCCPA) and is licensed by the Physician Assistant Board of the Medical Board of California. She joined South Coast MedSpa in the beginning of 2010 after undergoing an extensive hands-on training program supervised by our highly trained medical staff.

Courtney was born and raised in Southern California and at an early age she realized her desire to help others and was determined to have a career in the medical field. Before graduating high school she knew she wanted to become a Physician Assistant so that she could truly focus on the health and wellness of others. She attended the University of California, Irvine and earned her bachelors degree in Biological Sciences in 2006. She was then accepted into the Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) program at the College of Allied Health Professions at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Ca. After completing the rigorous 2 year academic and clinical curriculum, she earned her Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2009.

During her clinical training, Courtney developed a love for the dermatological field and chose to further her experience in dermatology by completing multiple elective rotations with leading Dermatologists in both Orange and Riverside counties. Throughout this training she expanded her knowledge and hands-on experience in both medical and aesthetic dermatology. This eventually led her to South Coast MedSpa where she has enjoyed spending the last few years helping people to feel more comfortable and confident about their skin and themselves.

Nina is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is licensed by the Physician Assistant Board of the Medical Board of California. She began working at South Coast MedSpa in 2019 and treats patients in the Newport Beach office.

Born and raised in Orange County, Nina went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2013. After graduation, she worked at a dermatology office in Beverly Hills for 3 years until starting her physician assistant program at Touro University, California in 2016. There, she completed the 3 year program and received her dual Master’s degrees in Physician Assistant Studies and Public Health in 2019.

Nina has always had a passion for aesthetic dermatology and loves to help her patients achieve their skin goals. Her favorite treatments to perform include acne scar resurfacing with the profractional laser and microlaserpeel. When she is not at SCMS, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, including her husband, Lucas, and their pug, Maurice.

Maddie is a registered nurse licensed by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Born and raised in Texas, she graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Health, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Houston.

After completing nursing school, Maddie worked as a postpartum nurse in Houston, Texas at a hospital in the world’s largest medical center. She then worked as a travel nurse in Boulder, Colorado. Maddie has a genuine passion for aesthetics and skin care. After gaining valuable experience as a nurse, she was excited to transition her career into the field of aesthetics. In 2023, she found her way to Orange County and joined the team at South Coast MedSpa. Maddie enjoys helping patients enhance their natural beauty and boost their self-confidence.

Andrea is a registered nurse licensed in the state of California. Born and raised in San DIego, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at California State University San Marcos, followed by her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from West Coast University.

After completing nursing school, she worked on a high-acuity medical-surgical unit as well as a sports medicine clinic. Andrea has always been passionate about health, wellness, and using cosmetic practices in her daily life. Transitioning to aesthetics, Andrea aims to help patients target their specific skin care goals and needs. She enjoys the positive energy that comes from patients knowing that they are doing something great for themselves and helping them enhance their natural beauty.
